The Hoa Mai Bilingual Preschool is an anchor tenant for the Artspace Mt. Baker Lofts building located next to Sound Transit’s Mt. Baker light rail station. As the first Vietnamese-English dual language childcare center in the Northwest, Hoa Mai is the result of a deep and purposeful collaboration between Sound Child Care Solutions, the Vietnamese Friendship Association, and Artspace. This tenant improvement transformed over 3,500 sq. ft. of vacant commercial space into a facility that fulfills a community need by providing universal pre-kindergarten education to children under five years old. The facility is part of the Seattle Preschool Program (SPP) and features three classrooms for a variety of age groups, an activity room, administrative offices, and two private exterior play areas to encourage children to play, explore, and learn while being immersed in a bilingual environment.
