Asia Pacific Cultural Center Grand Opening

August 29, 2025

We’re thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of the Asia Pacific Cultural Center in Tacoma! SMR Architects was honored to design this beautiful 18,500-square-foot facility that will serve as a permanent home for APCC after 29 years of growth and community service. The two-story multi-use building features classrooms, offices, a commercial kitchen, library, dance studio, Hall of Nations, art gallery, and a performing arts auditorium—all highlighting Asian and Pacific Islander cultural elements and influences.

It was wonderful to attend the Grand Opening Ceremony on August 29th and witness the community coming together to celebrate this milestone. This project represents more than just a building; it’s a vision transformed into reality—a space where 47 different countries and cultures can gather, learn, and connect. Congratulations to Executive Director Lua Pritchard, Founder Patsy Surh O’Connell, and the entire APCC team on this incredible achievement. We’re proud to have played a role in creating this vibrant cultural hub that will serve the Tacoma community for generations to come.
