The SMR Architects team had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for Housing Hilltop in Tacoma. Seeing this transformative project come to life was truly inspiring.
Housing Hilltop represents so much more than new buildings—it’s the culmination of years of thoughtful community engagement through the #DesignTheHill process, where Hilltop residents helped shape the vision for their neighborhood’s future. The result is two beautiful buildings that will provide 231 affordable housing units and 13,000 square feet of commercial space for local businesses.
As designers, we understand that great architecture happens when communities have a voice in the process. Housing Hilltop exemplifies this principle, and we are grateful to Tacoma Housing Authority for their commitment to inclusive, community-driven design.
