North View Grand Opening

July 27, 2026

SMR Architects attended the grand opening of North View Apartments, a permanent supportive housing community developed by Peninsula Behavioral Health. North View delivers 36 homes of stable, dignified housing for individuals and families who have experienced chronic homelessness, with a particular focus on residents living with disabilities, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders.

The four-story building includes seven studios, 25 one-bedroom homes, and four two-bedroom homes, all affordable at 30–50% AMI. Designed with trauma-informed principles throughout, North View offers residents a shared community room, two rooftop terraces overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Olympic Mountains, and a community room ceiling framed in cross-laminated timber, a first for SMR. Rooftop solar panels and ESDS Certification reflect the project’s commitment to sustainability and lasting impact.

North View broke ground in December 2024 and was completed in July 2026, backed by more than $12 million in committed funding from the State Housing Trust Fund, Behavioral Health Advisory, Clallam County, the Shreffler Family Donation, and the City of Port Angeles.
