Program

FareStart is a non-profit organization affiliated with King County’s 10-year plan to end homelessness. It operates a culinary program for homeless and disadvantaged adults that works to restore connections to the community and enable self-sufficiency by providing employment training in the food service industry. Students of the intensive 16-week program receive hands-on food service training, classroom instruction, case management, and job placement services. The rehabilitated building meets modern critical life/safety systems and cosmetic standards, and houses the FareStart Restaurant as well as the program’s commercial training kitchens, classrooms, and staff offices.
