Completed in October 2023, The Aries at Bitter Lake is an innovative, transit-oriented affordable housing community designed to foster vibrant urban living. Located in the Bitter Lake neighborhood, the development provides 200 affordable homes for individuals and families earning lower incomes (50%-60% AMI). The design prioritizes community integration and sustainable living. Ground floor and second floor community rooms create hubs for social engagement and resident services. Expansive courtyard spaces on both Level 1 and Level 2 extend living areas outdoors while offering tranquil retreats from urban life. With over 50% of the units featuring two- and three-bedroom and a secured play yard, this development is a wonderful place for families to call home. Artwork for the building was produced by members of the local community during the Seattle Design Festival. The building runs entirely on electricity and incorporates various sustainable design elements, including rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient LED lighting, an airtight and well-insulated exterior, and a centralized heat pump system for hot water supply. By focusing on environmentally-conscious design and community spaces, The Aries exemplifies a new vision for equitable, opportunity-rich affordable housing.
