The Rise at Yancy Street

Transitional Resources developed the Rise at Yancy Street to provide 44 new permanent supportive housing units for people with behavioral health needs, transitioning from homelessness, hospitals, or other treatment settings.

Client

Transitional Resources

Location

Seattle, WA

Program

The Rise at Yancy was previously home to three single-family houses on separate lots, that Transitional Resources rented so clients could be within walking distance to its central offices and behavioral health services. Originally zoned lowrise residential, limiting development to townhomes and duplexes, Seattle enacted the Mandatory Housing Affordability legislation in 2019 implementing zoning changes throughout the city to encourage the development of affordable housing. The increased floor area ratio and unlimited density made the development of this permanent supportive housing project possible, and enabled Transitional Resources to maintain housing near its other facilities which is essential to their service model. Each resident has a private apartment in addition to a shared access to a community room and outdoor amenity space with 24/7 staffing. Residents can engage in comprehensive behavioral health services provided nearby at Transitional Resource’s main offices and are part of a great neighborhood with excellent transit and a supportive community.
